ICEC is the certification body for the leather and allied industries

ICEC offers certification, training and standardization activities.

Established in 1994, it is still the only institute exclusively devoted to the leather sector in Europe and worldwide.

It is promoted by Italian tanners and has among its members the Italian associations of leather goods, footwear, accessories and components, fur and furniture manufacturers, CNR, ENEA, AICQ and the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.

With ICEC, the leather sector has become a leader in the certification field too.

ICEC is accredited in the leather sector by ACCREDIA for quality management system (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001), product (UNI standards or manufacturer's technical specifications), denomination of origin of Italian leather (UNI 11239), environmental product declaration (EPD). ICEC is accredited by the Ecolabel-Ecoaudit Committee for EMAS environmental scheme.

The leading companies in the leather sector have decided to get certified by ICEC.

The certification services offered by ICEC include:

Management Systems 

  • Quality Management System Certification (ISO 9001)
  • Environmental Management System Certification (ISO 14001 and EMAS)
  • Health and Safety at Work Management System Certification (OHSAS18001)

Product certification and other

  • Product certification in the leather sector in compliance with UNI standards or manufacturer's technical specifications
  • ICEC special schemes for the leather sector in compliance with ICEC technical specifications or UNI reference standards, e.g. qualification of test laboratories in the tanning sector, certification of innovative processes.
